From the Statesman,

“On Saturday, November 23, the iconic “Greetings from Austin” mural returned brighter and more vibrant than ever.

The mural was originally painted in 1998, and had shown signs of aging. With help from Troy Madres, Todd Sanders, and the Austin community  it took less than a month to raise the $10,000 necessary for the restoration. The restoration was spearheaded by original artists Todd Sanders and Rory Skagan and high school students from Creative Action, an arts education nonprofit.”
